Krethusa the Croneseer is an aelf of the Daughters of Khaine who has been granted the powers of prophecy by becoming the dead goddess Morai-Heg's avatar. Her prophetic powers have led her to declare Morathi-Khaine a false goddess and an usurper of Khaine's rightful place. Morathi would dearly like to destroy this heresiarch and suppress her growing army of malcontents, but Krethusa has thus far evaded her grasp.
Krethusa is a winged aelf with long, white hair. Her black wings are a sign of Morai-Heg's favour, and Krethusa can use her feathers to summon Morai-Heg's sacred crows to act as her spies or attack her enemies.
Additional information
Krethusa carries a staff topped by the angular eye-rune of Morai-Heg. She wears the barbed Circlet of Morai-Heg upon her brow. The circlet is a symbol of devotion to the Crone Goddess, for to put it on causes the barbs to pierce the eyes of the wearer, blinding them but granting the ability to divine the future.
Morai-Heg's blessings have granted Krethusa the power of prophecy, which the Croneseer uses to help aid her followers, spread her cult, and stay ahead of Morathi-Khaine's assassins. While her visions can be unclear, burnt sacrifices of blood and bone can enhance their accuracy, and Krethusa is especially skilled at haruspicy.
Those who follow Krethusa harbour doubts about Morathi-Khaine, with many being devoted to old traditions that Morathi discouraged or outright banned as High Oracle. Others are outcasts or otherwise scorned by Khainite society; many Doomfire Warlocks, oppressed but having enough freedom to make their escape, have been drawn to her banner.
While merely a Witch Aelf, Krethusa developed an obsession with Morai-Heg, who she believed was speaking to her in her dreams. Her strange devotion to a dead goddess brought her nothing but scorn in Khainite society, and she eventually became an outcast wandering Ulgu alone. When she came across the Circlet of Morai-Heg in an ancient temple, she eagerly placed it on her brow, confident that her faith had finally been rewarded. But Morai-Heg was dead, devoured long ago by Slaanesh, and the circlet did nothing but blind her.
Only when Morathi became a goddess by breaching Slaanesh's gullet did some of Morai-Heg's divine power escape into the Mortal Realms. Now, the Crone Goddess' long-suffering devotee found her reward: not only did she gain prophetic powers, but great wings erupted from her back, allowing Krethusa to fly.
With her divine gifts allowing her to see the truth of Morathi-Khaine's ascension, she became an immediate threat to the Khainite order. However, Krethusa's aid to the Sigmarites has bought her a measure of protection - Morathi has no desire to test her alliance with the God-King so soon after the Fall of Anvilgard - and her clairvoyance has allowed her to stay ahead of Morathi's more subtle agents.
